How it works

First launch, in three steps

  1. 1

    Your child picks a friend

The first step is theirs: they choose one of the Lulla mascots.

The “Pick a friend together” screen, with eight Lulla mascots
  2. 2

    You answer a few questions

Your child's name, age, what they love, what you hope for them and how long they play each day.

The goals question: what you hope for your child
  3. 3

    The app prepares the plan

It picks the first games based on your goals, puts their favourite worlds first, matches the difficulty to their age and applies the limit you chose.

The finished plan: goals, favourite worlds, chosen games, difficulty and play time

Two optional questions and what they change

Gets scared by loud sounds?

If yes, sudden sounds play more softly.

Plays in the evening too?

If yes, from 7 pm, bedtime games come first.

  1. How many choices are on screen
  2. How high they count
  3. How many rounds a game has

Made for little hands

  • Every instruction is read aloud
  • Big buttons
  • Your child isn't told off for mistakes
  • No timers
  • Children aged 1–2 play alongside a parent

The narrator uses the text-to-speech voice chosen in the phone's settings, not recorded voices.

For parents

You set the rules

A real daily limit

You choose the limit and can change it in the grown-ups' area. When time's up, the friends go to sleep, and a grown-up can give extra time.

The app shows you the World Health Organization's recommendation: for children aged 2–4, no more than one hour of screen time a day, in total, and less is better; none under age 2. WHO guidelines (2019)

The “A little, done well” screen: the WHO recommendation and the choice of daily limit

The grown-ups' area

It's protected by a question for grown-ups: a multiplication sum. Inside, you'll find:

  • Your child's age and profile
  • The daily limit
  • Sounds
  • The app's language
  • Progress in each skill
The question for grown-ups: “What is 9 × 9?”

Notifications for you only

They're optional and stay off until you turn them on:

  • An idea for home, after play
  • A summary of the week, on Sundays
  • A reminder before the first subscription payment

None of them is for your child.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

  • What is Lulla Kids?
Lulla Kids is an Android app with 500 games and lessons for children aged 1–6, starring the 50 mascots of Lulla, the baby-sleep app. It has no ads, needs no account, and the games work offline. The parent sets a daily time limit. 18 games are free; Premium is a monthly subscription or a one-time payment.
  • What age is Lulla Kids for?
For children aged 1–6. Children aged 1–2 play alongside a parent; bear in mind that the WHO does not recommend screen time under age 2 (see our screen time advice for each age). Difficulty matches their age: how many choices are on screen, how high they count and how many rounds a game has.
  • What's free and what do I pay for?

18 games are free forever. Premium unlocks all 500 games and lessons, plus those added later:

    • monthly: the first 7 days free for new subscribers, then 25.99 lei / €4.79 a month; the subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in Google Play;
    • lifetime: a single payment of 159.99 lei / €29.99, with no subscription.

The final price is the one Google Play shows in your currency. There's no yearly plan.

  • Does it have ads?
No. Lulla Kids has no ads and doesn't need an account. If you're comparing apps, see how to check a kids' app for ads.
  • Does it work without internet?
Yes. The games are already on the phone and work without the internet, so the app works in the car and on a plane too. The narrator uses the phone's text-to-speech voice, though: before a trip, open the phone's text-to-speech settings and check that the voice for the chosen language is downloaded, or the narrator may stay silent offline. You also need internet to download the app and to buy Premium, both through Google Play, and for the optional account.
  • How does the time limit work?
At first launch you choose how long your child plays each day, and you can change the limit anytime in the grown-ups' area. When time's up, the friends go to sleep; a grown-up can give extra time. The app also shows you the WHO recommendation: at ages 2–4, no more than one hour of screen time a day, in total, and less is better; none under age 2. If stopping is hard for your child, see our tips for ending screen time with fewer tears.
  • What data does the app collect?
Without an account or a purchase, the app sends us nothing: it has no ads or analytics tools, and the games work offline. Your child's profile (first name, what they like, your goals, the chosen friend) is saved only on the phone, is excluded from Android backup and can be deleted in the grown-ups' area. Progress and settings (for example age and the daily limit), without a name, may be included in Android backup if the phone's backup is turned on; Google keeps that copy in your Google account. The parent account is optional: if you create one, a copy of the progress, settings and plan is kept in it, on servers in the EU, until you delete it. Payments are processed by Google Play, and RevenueCat keeps our purchase records. Details in the privacy policy.
